Quite a while back there was a discussion on FOB on this list. I have or did have somewhere in the garden a clone of this plant. It is small, wispy and never does much in any location. A poor plant.
I originally saw FOB blooming in a Massachusetts garden and that was not the same plant that I bought. The old discussion spoke to the issue of several clones being on the market with one group being a poor grower and quite a small plant and the other more vigorous and quite a beautiful and interesting garden plant.
After the first, I did not try another. I thought I would mention this if any listers are in the market. They should try to establish that they are buying a strong plant. It should not be the one with foliage around 12 inches (30 cm.). I do not FOB in gardens in my neck of the woods.
Digressing, we have rain daily and have had since around the first of May. It is raining now, it rained yesterday, and is forecast for eight more days. Endless rain is interesting in the gardens, the plants are quite different than in those dry years. Also weeds. I have never seen so much annual grass which germinates daily. We cannot keep up with the weeding as we cannot find time periods when it is not raining.
