I think there is a bit of variation in siberians, they set pods very heavily
and if they are not removed the next thing you have a vigorous seedling
growing and pretty soon the original plant is gone. Some of the older varieties are
very variable. Not too many years ago we had 2 completely different dark
purple varieties named 'Caesar's Brother',. let me tell you the judges if they
looked at them they were not the same. I have had older knowledgeable siberian
specialists say that they didn't think one of the reds was even right in the
trade, either Eric the Red / Helen Astor. Botanical gardens are notorious for
mislabeled plants, yes even famous ones. anna mae
