Yesterday the Wisconsin Iris Society had their late show and we had an
abundance of entries as usual. We had IB, BB, MTB, SIB, TB, Dutch Iris,
Graminea, Pseudacorus, even an Arilbred. Since we were past peak, good
grooming was the order of the day to produce winning stalks.
Queen of Show: CONJURATION (always spectacular, IMHO)
Runner Up: SWEET MUSETTE (wow, it had HUGE flowers too!)
Both were shown by Dorothy Vande of New Berlin, WI
Siberian Irises really got the attention and recognition they deserved at
this show.
Best Siberian and Best Red Iris in Show was JEWELLED CROWN
Best Blue Iris in Show was WINDWOOD SPRING
Best Violet Iris in Show was CORONATION ANTHEM
Trust me, winning best blue or best violet is NOT an easy feat. HUGE
competition from the "tall guys". I was thrilled these Sibs were chosen
best
in their respective color classes. By the way, all these Siberians were
exhibited by myself. I also won most blue ribbons in Siberian section. The
best part was that many folks got a good look at these irises and expressed
interest in getting some for their own gardens or expanding their current
collection. Hurrah for the Siberians!!
Oh yes, I also won best Arilbred with MOONCHILD (who was blooming quite
late). Thank you Leslie Jobe for sending it to me! I also won Best Median
and Best MTB with a stalk of ROSEMARY'S DREAM which is always a top
performer
in my garden.
Okay, enough of the shameless bragging...
