And the winner is......

From: Ellen Gallagher <e_galla@moose.ncia.net>

	Wow!

'Kamayama' opened today and gad, I can hardly stand it. I looked
out the window as soon as I got up and saw it across the yard.
Threw up some jeans & sweatshirt (cold here today) and picked up
my little terrier and went running across the lawn carrying a
yardstick to measure this stunning plant. My neighbor explicitly
said to tell her the minute it opened so I climbed the retaining
wall (still carrying my Cairn,Riley, who was having a grand time)
and pounded on her back door. She came out in her robe and slippers
and we went over the wall and she was so pleased and didn't mind
that her feet were soaked from the dew. She is a great gardener
but has NO Siberians. This is changing this year. We will be
up. Jody, along with our other gardening neighbors.

This was about 6:30 am, BTW.

What a flower...Currier McEwen wrote in 'The Siberian Iris' that

'Kamayama' is probably I. sanguinea x I. siberica and is grown
in Japan but is probably Korean in origin.

It measures exactly 41 1/2 inches from ground level to top of
the standards which are gorgeous. I have found other first
year plants to be taller the second year...wonder if it is
	hold true for this one.

This is a first year plant from Kathy Marble in Mass. THANK
	YOU, Kathy.

*Dana Borglum's 'Seneca Night Sky' is the current favorite of
almost everyone that comes to the garden. I like it better than
'Lake Keuka'....the light style arms make make a statement against
the dark blue flower. (they are called aqua in the checklist but
I would call them a lovely light blue - aqua means some green to
	me).

	Cheers,

	Ellen
