Hi Bob,
After your telling me that you used bleach on your seeds, and having read
glowing reports for H2O2, I tried the latter this year instead; it seemed
like it would do similar things. As you could see when you visited, at
least it didn't kill the seeds! But it certainly doesn't seem to make them
all jump out at once either, though every cross has had _some_ germination
at least. On the other hand, I didn't exercise a lot of control over the
concentration. They did soak for quite some time - I wonder whether the
H2O2 is reduced after a short while anyway? Perhaps since there is some
interest, next year we might try some controlled experiments on crosses
where we have large numbers of seeds . (I'll aim to make extra pods just to
do germination experiments). I'd try a somewhat stronger concentration on
some for sure.
