If you automatically append a 'signature' (including your location on
earth, important for understanding your climate in a gardening context) to
every email, it would work wonders.

On a similar note, some of you do not appear as a name but merely as your
email address in the listing of incoming mail. That includes Marty, Bob H,
Anna Mae, and this anonymous poster. I use Eudora Light and can guess that
my name is extracted from Tools/Options/Personal Info (and/or Getting
Started) /Real Name. Those familiar with other email programs might chime
in with help on how to add one's name to the email address in those other
programs. It's no big deal, I know some of you by email address, but it is
neater, and more immediately helpful to the reader. Amidst all the hassles
created by programmers, anything we can do to smooth the experience is nice.
Believe me (and I do programming), I have stumbled my way through trying to
set up a lot of programs, and I am well aware it is not intuitive, many
things are well hidden and poorly explained, so I am not in any way
criticizing. In fact, unless you have sent an email to yourself, you would
not realize the way it appears to others. (it is a good way to test out
whether you have achieved a change).
Well, if you have sent an email to the group, you've also received it, so I
guess that you should know already.

Basically, you need to find a setup that shows the email is from

Your Name <your email address>

instead of just

your email address.

We are all stumbling around in the dark with regard to computers.
