Re: Siberian Popularity Poll

Arnold,

I feel sure that the Board will not cancel (heaven forbid) the Poll..just decide how to go about getting the most responses. Having heard from several people off-list as well as on-list, the Poll and its importance vary from peson to person. I think most  like to read the results and see the comments.

I feel much like you do, Arnold, in that it helps me see what is being grown where and what the results are. I try to leave it much as it was sent to Barbara and myself. Last year, Barbara did the poll tabulation results and I did the garden observations (I had the far easier job!).

However, I have been aware of the lack of participation in other sections (as Rita pointed out)so we are not addressing this as a special problem in SSI but throughout the American Iris Society and maybe in other flower
societies.

Ellen  (you might have sent in your ballot without comments - if there was more than one sentence I used it in TSI)

To tell the truth, I can't remember if I sent in my ballot last year or not, though I think I did.  Just too long ago to be certain.  I plead "Senior Moment."  I certainly hope the board will not decide to eliminate the popularity poll.  I always find it interesting, especially with the attached comments that appear in SSI, and I like to know what the favorites are.  It's fun to compare with what I like in order to see if my preferences are sort of mainstream or somewhere out in left field.  And it helps me decide, when I'm going to buy new plants, what's likely to be good in my garden since a lot of other growers vote for it.
