Hi Judy, I have never tried to force siberians, but what I have to offer is that plants dug and potted in early spring do bloom for the most part at the usual time.
I have heard from Dick Kiyomoto that he forced siberians by putting them in a warm room with lots of light and enriched the atmosphere with CO2 to prevent stretching. I think it would be neat if we could have pots of Siberians blooming for some of the early spring gardening shows ( a bit late for this year I realise). Also several iris clubs have early shows and it would be good to have Sibs ready to display for those. Please respond - I know there are a bunch of fertile minds out there!!! And since it's difficult to come up with an original idea - some of you must have already done this. Cheers Judy Pres. SSI |
