Scapes in Iowa

It's May 9th and I have siberian scape shooting up everywhere. We had a very
mild winter here, so mild that the patatoes I missed when digging last fall
have decided to sprout and grow ( of course not in any place where they
should be). Back to Siberians, mostly the scapes are coming in older
seedlings rows and have appeared over night. I had hopes to be able to have
them blooming at the same time as the nationals. Guess not. The Tall Bearded
Iris are starting to put on a real show. I have a I. Versacolor called
BETWEEN THE LINES that is twice as tall as any of the siberians right now, is
that normal? See you in Iowa City soon.......Don
