Siberian seedling: 'Nobody's Perfect'

Hello,

I have obtained Kathy Chilton's permission to reprint the post
she sent to the iris-photos list last month about a Siberian
seedling of Libby Cross. I am hoping to obtain a photo of this
seedling for fall issue of 'The Siberian Iris' if Libby has good
bloom on a clump this year. Last year the deer had several
lunches on her flowers. 

I will post the show photo (courtesy of Kathy Chilton) tomorrow
on the BeardlessIrisPhotos list.  Also, Dana Brown wrote to the
iris-photo list that 'Nobody's Perfect' automatically received
an EC since it was awarded Best Seedling at an AIS show.

"Subject: Desert Siberian : Nobody's Perfect !!

ÊÊÊÊ The Tucson Area Iris Society held it's Spring show on
Saturday, The biggest treat of the whole show was the seedling
section.Ê Due to the fact that things are growig very well in
our 2005 Sonoran Desert Trek Gardens,there were several TB
seedlings, a bunch of LA seedlings and a SIBERIAN!!!.. Despite
the beauty of everything else,this was Best Seedling hands down!
ÊÊÊ Libby Cross sent a guest plant of her Siberian seedling
,NOBODY'S PERFECT here to Tuscon AZ, When it arrived, I e-mailed
her & said that 
maybe she didn't understand where this trek was located and was
she sure she didin't want me to send her precious baby back home
right away?? She told me to go ahead and give it a try, So,it
was planted in the Forestal Garden,, near the LA's, tucked in
among the 
rocksÊand saguaro cactus..
         I told her at the time, that if it would grow and bloom
in Tuscon, it would deserve the Dykes Medal !!! . Well, lo and
behold, thanks to the wonderful care of Joanne Lee Miller, whoÊ
is responsible forÊ the irisÊ gardens, it has grown., increased
and has a bunch of stalks this second year of growth.
           I am attachingÊ a photo taken at the show - it's not
the best, but does show the lovely turquoise heart of the
bloom."Ê
