{Disarmed} Sib seedling blooming at AIS convention

This is Bob Hollingworth's seedling blooming in at the American Iris Society's convention earlier this month in Oklahoma. The seedling number is 97B1B27.  'Galadriel' (Hollingworth) is in colored bud directly to the left of the seedling. Sorry about my notebook in front of the flower bed. I was so excited to see a Siberian in bloom that I dropped my notebook and started shooting - with my camera. :-) There are some Louisiana iris on the right of this

seedling.

There was a Schafer/Sacks Sib in the back row that was in bud but there were all growing well. Bob's seedling 97B1B27 was also doing well in another garden and was in bloom along with Hal Stahly's 'Active Duty' (growing tall and with multiple bloomstalks) and I think I have a pic in my files but I have to go and retrieve it. I may not have taken one since I brought Hal over to see it. He is legally blind now but he was able to see it.

 

In 1999, at another AIS convention in Oklahoma, not one Sib (maybe one Caesar's Brother ??) was blooming or, for that matter, ali ve, I think. As Bob said, "Given good care, Sibs will bloom in Oklahoma.
