Re: Seedlings

Hey Dennis ,

Thanks for the info , These are second year seedlings , But so are the ones planted next to them , That's why I was curious , If my memory serves me correctly , they all pretty much bloomed all at the same time last year with the TB's . Just seems so early .

Shouldn't have to water the JI's for awhile with all this rain were getting .

Thanks Again
Gary

Gary,
I haven't grown Siberian seedlings for a few years, but first and sometimes second year JI seedlings are precocious, blooming as much as a week or more earlier than more mature plants.
I have also noticed that foliage is slower to die back in the fall. In a mild winter, I have had first year JI seedlings stay green all winter.
Hope this helps.

I have stalks on alot of my seedlings already some are even showing color , one might open as early as tomarrow ,This seems so early - China Spring has always been my first to bloom & it's not even close yet , all of my other siberians are either just starting to show stalks or none at all yet . The seedlings that are way ahead are all from the same cross , I have other seedlings from other crosses planted right next to them & they show no sign of stalks yet , So I would say that it is probably not weather related . It's going to be strange having siberians blooming with the SDB's & IB's . Has this ever happened to anyone else ?
