Re: tridentata x SIBERIAN

From: Jpwflowers@aol.com

Dennis,
Very interesting idea. We have been fond of I. tridentata for many years and
have tried to gather several different clones. (It makes seed much better
with more than one clone. ) If you have a white one we would be very
interested - haven't ever heard of a white tridentata. Please send us a
picture (off the sibrob) if possible.

I would be curious about what type of plant habit you would get with a
tridentata/Siberian since tridentata is stoloniferous and siberians are clump
forming. We have seen crosses between prismatica and 40 chromosome siberians
(prismaticas are stoloniferous) and they are clump forming.

Couldn't find the chromosome count on tridentata in any of our references.
Anyone out there know? I will ask Rodney Barton who runs a North American
Native Iris web page if he knows.

Good luck making the cross. Tomas Tamberg has made many
interspecies/interseries crosses and he recommends using the siberian as the
pod parent in working with sibtosas (siberian x setosa).
