Dykes

From: "Harold Peters" <harold@directcon.net>

Background: I was cynical to start with, then I accepted the Safety
Engineer position for a chemical company and was formally trained how to be
methodically cynical.

If THORNBIRD can win a Dykes, anything can. All it takes is a dedicated
group who agree on ONE candidate. This is what the space age advocates
essentially did with/for Thornbird. I even heard a group of space age
advocates have this exact discussion for that very reason. If all of the
beardless advocates agree on one candidate, that candidate has a chance. It
does not take much of a swing in votes when the opposition is in disarray.
The best time for disarray would be there were no truly worthy contenders in
the TB class as has happened a couple of times. The practice of politics is
not much different in the iris world than it is in the legislative world.
Its just the consequences/rewards are less significant to the winners,
losers and society as a whole.

I spend a year as a registered lobbyist in California. That taught me that I
was still not as cynical as I needed to be to survive at that level of
competition. Nor did I want to be.
