SIB: Bloom has begun and I am impressed...

From: JEM300@aol.com

My bloom season started a few days ago with INDY leading the pack. The
flowers are huge and remind me almost of a JI. Vibrant red violet with a
blue wash. Bud count is great, I will be seeing this flower for the better
part of the season.

New to me is PLEASURES OF MAY which bloomed today (whew! Just made it before
it would be Pleasures of June!). WOW. Nicely formed flower, 2 branches very
well placed, and 5 buds. I sure wish we had a show tomorrow! Standards
nearly white and the falls are the softest lavender, very smooth texture,
touch of gold at the hafts and the merest hint of a white signal. Distinct.
And we all like distinct, right?

The others that are blooming their fool heads off now are SHOWDOWN, OTTAWA,
and PERRY'S BLUE. I really enjoy all of these. They are vigorous to a fault
and that makes up for sometimes slightly lazy foliage. They never disappoint
me by skipping a bloom year.

Tomorrow I should be enjoying CHILLED WINE (care to join me?),and WINDWOOD
SPRING.

Oh, my two cents worth on a good white. I just adore KING OF KINGS.
Unfortunately it is sulking for me right now and I have no bloom stalks.
Another that is exceptional is BELLISSIMA. Delicate with the most wonderful
feathery styles.

There is such a wealth of bloom stalks on my Sibs this year, I'm going to
just pull out a chair and enjoy the show!
