WELFENSCHATZ is a winner for sure...I planted one plant (from Andy Wheeler)
two years ago and I am amazed at the increases and the length of bloom AND
the vigor to say nothing of the tenacity of the yellow coloring. When I
planted it a little in front of two peonies, my new garden looked so empty but
WELFENSCHATZ (plus the peonies) filled the gap in that area. I love B & S but
W.S. definitely outshines it here. I ordered it on the basis of seeing a pix
of it from Edmundas K. and Andy's recommedation.

Carol mentioned MOONSILK - one of my 'current' fav. Siberians. It is on the
shorter side but the length of bloom is great. It does fade rather quickly but
with this almost perfect plant, who could care? It is a stunner in the front
of a mixed border. Anything that Hal Stahly hybridizes does well up here in
Zone 3 and that especially holds true for bearded irises.

Landscapers would do well to try JAMAICA VELVET or other red-violet cultivars
that are hardy and make a splash in the garden..don't overlook KAMAYAMA which
is so hardy and striking. It is one of the 'wow' sibes.

Cheers,
