Hi Linda!

I have never noticed the Butter and Sugar along I-35 but of course
have only traveled that route during lily season. Could the planting
have belonged to Borbeleta Gardens?
Butter and Sugar as always been a slow but consistant performer for
me. I was excited about the yellow color when I first obtained it,
and overlooked the form and slow performance.
Sorry I couldn't send you the "reds" that you wanted but last years
dry weather didn't cooperate. Next year I will only have one
introduction -- 'Navy Trim'. It is a sister seedling to Carmen
Jeanne and Where Eagles Dare but is a light blue with a narrow navy
blue edge on all the falls. It too is well budded and seems to grow
well. The cross Mabel Coday X Varner S060 was the best cross I ever
had and that year I made several of the same cross. Out of several
hundred seedlings I have registered 7 from the cross--Carmen Jeanne,
Where Eagles Dare, Shadowed Eyes, Festival Prelude, Navy Trim, Sing,
and Night Knight. The last two will be introduced in 2002 or 2003.
