mailing lists (and stuff)

Hello,
I have removed the author of the weird message that was sent to
Sibrob yesterday (the author was something like iching...).
With an open membership list, we do occasionally receive a few
'crackpot' messages. Be assured that I will deal with these
promptly. *Just delete them on your end and do NOT open any
attachments if they are sent with these messages. *
The other side of the coin would be to NOT have an open
membership. In other words, I would have to approve all new
members. This can be pretty dicey since I don't personally know
about half of the present members on the Sibrob and might
inadvertently deny membership to an irisarian.
However, I am thinking about options, e.g.sending any
prospective members a small questionnaire, etc. My personality
rails against doing something like this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have been an extraordinarily quiescent group these last 2 - 3
months. Those of you that are more seasoned members know that we
are a cyclical bunch as are most flower mailing lists or mailing
lists in general.
'The Siberian Iris' (Fall 2002) is winging its way to members of
the Society for Siberian Irises. I have not received mine
yet...would the FIRST person who receives TSI tell the list or
contact me privately. Thanks.
The photos in this issue are not up to par at least by my
standards. We couldn't get the colors corrected on the main
composing computer re blues. However, the one digital I used
right from Marty and Jan's web page (RIVERDANCE, one of the
Award of Merit winners for 2002) looks good (to my eye :-).
Fortunately, the cover pic of LAKE KEUKA is ok...whew. Not
perfect but proved not as difficult as (gulp) BLUEBERRY FAIR
(and also RILL). I thought I had B.F. in the right color range
BUT no dice. Much too much 'magenta' showing....I tried to nix
it but...
*We will run BLUEBERRY FAIR again in the Spring and maybe RILL
as well. This is only the fair way to present the flowers.*
This issue of TSI is smaller (only 32 pps.) and will cost us
less money. The mailing cost was $50.00 less.
Cheers,
Ellen
