Properly speaking, mutagens are chemicals. UV irradiation can create mutagens
that then can cause mutations.
To the best of my knowledge, no one has tried UV irradiation on iris seeds
unless they were trying to sterilize the seed coat. I seem to recall someone
trying x-rays (considerably more potent), but there are so many regular
chemicals that can function as mutagens, there doesn't seem to be much point.
I'll give this some more thought.
