Re: Fertilize and culture

Hi Norma,
I am sure that you will get other responses to your email, but here is one.
Milorganite is a fertilizer product made from dried, processed sewage sludge
from Milwaukee. Many people swear by it. It is slightly controversial, in
that it does contain some byproducts other than human waste.
It might repel deer and rabbits from other perennials.
I too am in zone 7- in the mountains of Va. It is tough to transplant
Siberians in our summer conditions. They must remain moist for their entire
re establishment period, especially with spring or summer division. They do
commonly appear dormant or dead in drier times and I would not give up on
them early. I prefer September division here, with a small window in March
also. Jim
