Leroy, thanks for the
clear and explicit description of your planting techniques for seedlings.
I shall save that for future reference. My experience with
missouriensis was the opposite of yours: it was among the pots that came
through the mean Iowa winter with flying colors. The difference may be
that mine was growing in that pot most of the summer so had time to develop its
roots. Siberians have done the same. We're colder than you
are, too (zone 4 here, and I know your climate well, because I was born and grew
up in the Yakima Valley) which would put more stress on the seedlings, I would
think. My missouriensis seeds came from Colorado, so maybe they grew on
the cold Rocky slopes in climate similar to here, though almost certainly
drier. Anyway, thank you again.
