Usage varies from person to person. A good system would be to use Sibe for
Siberian and sib for sibling. Along those lines "Sibe" would be pronounced
with a long I sound as if starting the word "Siberian". "sib" on the other
hand would have the short i sound as if starting the word "sibling".
However I have little hope of changing very many people to such a logical
system so expect to continue to see divergent usage.
There was a long thread on this shortly after I joined Sibrob. Estimated
time frame Jan 99.
