Hi Judy,
Right now I am doing a lot of iris container gardening, about
75 in the garden area under a big live oak tree. They are
thriving, some even bloomed this spring.
As you know here on the island I have difficulty getting them
established, the reason for my container gardening experiment.I
love container gardening and it has proven successful for iris
as well as other plants. I also have a great container herb garden.
I do not have to deal with freezing temperatures though., and
one would need sufficient storage, but rigging up some lighting
isn't a big problem. I have a basement or garage area I put
fragile plants and seedlings to winter over and have some lamps
from KMart for lighting. I have large garbage cans in which I
collect rainwater for their watering.
You will probably hear from others who winter over potted plants
in a number of ways.
Hi to Bob.
Claire Honkanen, Isle 0f Palms.
Floyd did not disturb them at all. After we returned to the island
from Floyd I hurried to check them in a protected area and they
had not even tipped over. They were stacked close together.
I was very grateful!
