I've tried this before, but have never been successful
getting a pod using OGB+ pollen. Or another OGB- for that
matter. I have only gotten pods using balanced
amphidipoids or TBs on this type bloom. Same with an
OGB+. I've only gotten seeds using TB or AB, no minuses
or pluses. I think they can probably happen, but 'not
good' chances are reduced even further. Around here, just
about everything gets tried. In this case, though, I
think I'd rather try OGB pollen (which, in fact, I've
already done) to try and improve my chances of getting a
pod. Since I consider the TB X AB seedlings an
intermediate step, their primary qualification is the
ability to set seeds rather than how they look. The
theory being is that the aril genes are there to work with
along with TB genes not currently common in the arilbred
pool and subsequent generations could be productive.

I think a successful cross might give these and also some
other combos. I'd have to draw out the possibilities.

Might've. Another type cross I've made, but only had
seeds germinate once. DESERT MOONLIGHT, so far as I know,
has never set a viable pod using anything. It has come up
for discussion on the arilrobin and the belief expressed
there is that it is likely pod sterile. I personally
doubt that is written in stone, but it has not set any
pods for me.

I think this may depend on the direction of the cross
somewhat and also somewhat on just what they inherit. The
few OB- and OGB- seeds I've achieved have looked more like
TB seeds and lack the aril collar except for AT LAST. The
seeds from AT LAST have a pronounced aril collar. And at
least once, good germination. So.....I'm not sure they
follow rules :). That's an understatement on the whole
process.
Two seedlings without a horn aren't statistically very
meaningful. The next three might have something. Only I
don't have any more siblings and the TBIRD X AB seedlings
aren't going to bloom.
