Hello Chris, No, I didn't make any crosses on it, or gather pollen. It was late in the evening when I noticed it, and didn't have a chance. I'll keep an eye on the clump, and more flowers like these. I agree, selfing would be a good idea. Thanks for the idea. And yes, we do owe Austin alot for his wonderful work. I also wanted to correct something I said on an earlier post. I stated that Hagars helmet was likely sterile. I should have said, pod sterile, as it's pollen does look viable. I was contacted off list about it. My error, should have clarified. I've been dobbing it's pollen on SDB's, not sure of any takes yet though. I also want to mention how regular it is with SA appendages. It always has them, really long horns or big spoons almost flounces, held strait up into the standards. Did you borrow any pollen from it ? It must have some appendage genetics
inhereted from other routes prior to the Austin work. I wonder what the
results would be if you selfed it and grew the seedlings like Austin did
with ADVANCE GUARD, you could be looking for a needle in a hay stack. We owe
Austin a great deal for the his hard work concentrating these genes
Chris
