Re: SOLAR FIRE X (THORNBIRD x unknown) #2

Here's #2 of the seedlings to bloom. Definitely has long spoon appendages.
Sort of split the difference between the two parents in style. So far every
bloom has them on every fall. All alike. No mixing of spoons and horns on
the same bloom.. So now I'll just have to watch as all the rest of the buds
open and see if they hold true.

Otherwise, also damaged by the dogs and more than #1, but less than most of
the other seedlings. Also a strong grower. But the stalks are wildly
uneven. The two stalks that are blooming well are the tallest stalks I've
every grown on any iris other than a spuria. About 45". The bloom shown
is the terminal of one of those stalks. One stalk had the terminal bloom
down in the fan and a fourth stalk only reached a height of around 30". But
so far the blooms look the same. High bud count and no falling. I think
they won't fall since they are still standing after the weather last night.
At least not this bloom season. A bit 'redder' color. Just a bit more
attractive all around than #1.
