Re: Iris Seedlings for 2004 website

Hi Will,

I think you should lets the seeds dry out first. Is this the way
everybody else does it ? Also allow them to dry in open cups,
otherwise they'll get moldy fast and them you'll be plagued with it
all through the burito process.

As I mentioned before, a quick shake in a sealed jar with warm water
and a squirt of Dial antibacterial hand soap is really effective in
removing all mold from the seeds.

Another thing I'd like to mention about the fridge germination is
that they'll be a window between 3 to 5 months where you'll see good
germination but then it appears to stop completely. This is when I
move the seeds to pots outdoors where I'll see another wave of
germination within 4 to 6 weeks. Still, not great germination
percentages are observed but it gives me 75 to 100 seedlings to play
withunder Growlux bulbs that will have a fighting chance to bloom the
following year if the weather/borer cooperates.

Chris
