[SpaceAgeRobin] SA seedling

Hello Folks,

Welcome, Ted.  Your wood carvings are nice.  One of your iris photos looks a lot like an old named, but unregistered cultivar, called Sandy Mohr.  I wonder if it is?  It's not in wide circulation, so it would be unusual to have it growing.

I found a seedling up this a.m. from a cross of SOLAR FIRE X THORNBIRD seedling.  I don't make many TB crosses and this is the first time I've ever made one exploring the SA aspects that might come about.  Both parents are SA, but the form the appendages take are so different that I'm primarily curious as to what form the seedlings from the cross might take.  SF has an appendage that erupts directly out of the falls, whereas the seedling's appendage is attached by a flat membrane that goes nearly halfway down the falls before it usually forms a small spoon.  Since both parents are THORNBIRD seedlings, I may end up with Tbird look alikes, who can tell?  Though I'm not one of the participants of the SAGE project, it was the discussion of that project that made me try the cross.

Spring shouldn't be too far off for me here in Texas, but the drought we're having is making me doubtful of seeing a good year for bloom.  A side effect is something, cottontails I think, are eating the iris fans pretty badly.  Ordinarily they don't bother the iris, but iris are about the only thing green around here and they are pretty stressed.  We finally got 1 3/4 inches of rain yesterday - almost the first measurable amount I've received since the end of July.
