RE: More thoughts on CV selection for SAGE

Hello, Bill and everyone,

I’m willing to try a couple of these crosses.  Though I know I can’t do them all, whatever I can do might help.  Spaceage irises that I have:

APRIL JEWEL,  very beautiful, fair grower here. It didn’t set pods for me, and I haven’t heard anything of its seedlings.

CLOUDIA,  pretty, not the best form, fertile pollen, has given me nice seedlings.

CONJURATION,  good grower here, inconsistent horns, widely distributed.

CORAL POINT,  probably the most widely distributed.  I have seedlings from it but have to wait till 2005 to see them bloom.

ELEGANT GIRL,  nice, tall, vigorous pink, set pods with difficulty, only X Happenstance,  Seedlings will start blooming in 2005.

HOOK’EM HORNS,  vigorous, not best form or consistency, have two purple non SA seedlings from pod parent, ‘Soul Sister’ that will undoubtedly leave this summer.

IT AIN’T SO,  interesting black-purple, good grower, good horns with spoons, seedling from Thornbird, will try to cross it this spring.

MARGARET INEZ, fair grower here, fertile, I have a bunch of seedlings from it and would like to hear from someone what to expect from them.

MESMERIZER, good grower here despite pineappling and bloom-out tendency.  Has problems in the north.  I have a few new seedlings from it X ‘Pink Champagne’ and a seedling of my own.

TWICE THRILLING,  poor grower here, but survives,  I have a few new seedlings from it with ‘Pond Lily’ as the pod parent.

I am looking forward to acquiring ‘Barbara’s Lace’ and ‘Doctor No’ that I could use next year.

Hello Mike,
I'm revisiting the list of suggested SA candidates and trying to get to the point we can perhaps take one more look at what each person has in the ground that might be used this year.

I'm hoping your effort is continuing on the potential non SA candidates.

Smiles,
Bill Burleson
