[SpaceAgeRobin] Re:Re: some suggestions...[Chuck Chapman]

Thanks, Chuck, for the feedback.  Although we can hope for some varieties that will thrive and be consistent with the SA traits from California to Ontario and Quebec, that may be an awful lot to hope for right at first.  If there are some that DO thrive over the entire range, and do also behave well, we can--and should--concentrate on them.

Our objective, however, initially, is to get a handle on the genetics.  Producing superior varieties is a hoped-for spin off--and very important too.  But the genetics is primary at this point.

Varieties like DEVONSHIRE CREAM and CORPS DE BALLET that have limited expression of the SA characteristics do tell us something, but for the life of me I couldn't say what--yet.  It may be dosage related--or it may be something else.  We will know, hopefully, by the time we've gotten into the study a good bit.  I'm counting on you, Chuck, to help untangle the data as we begin to accumulate numbers we can work with.  You have shown a knack for such and that would be very useful for the rest of us.

Rick and Roger will have the photos of those two in the on-line catalog as they get it worked over for this coming season.  In the meantime, I've asked if we might post their two photos (Corps... and As You Were) on the Robin.  I'll wait to hear their response before doing so, however.
