Thanks guys, Well that spider was smaller than other black widows I've
seen. This one's body was a little bigger than 1/4" long. I've seen them
easily twice that size. I didn't even think to count the legs, good eye.
When I turned the rock over, my first thought was, "how close did my
finger get to that?" This is the first black widow I've seen in this color
morph, the others were the common "red hourglass."
About SA#2, I'm pretty sure it's got Thornbird in it, especially when I
look at other Thornbird seedlings. I think some of the other reddish
seedlings might also be out of it also. I'll be cursed to wonder though,
since I didn't keep records.
I plan to line out the one's I think have potential, after another year of
evaluation. All seem to be increasing really good, even the one's I'm not
that fond of (lol).
Bengal Tiger took two years to bloom from a huge potato from Suttons
(most like that bloom first year). It has been a slow increaser, not due to
rot, it just seems to only increase by 2. It made two stalks this year, and
tried to rebloom super late, so it might have wasted it's spring bloom.
Lemon Spoon is one of my favorites. It's got the neatest branching and
is very tall, and didn't fall over (kinda leaned a little though). I like it's
form alot, it's really graceful. It's done great here. I'll have plenty to
share this summer, if you guys are interested. I don't think I've seen a
single flower without appendages on every beard. Some might think it's
too old looking, but I think it's great.
Will
