My understanding is that pollen goes freely across borders.
At least if it is not too white and fluffy. (laughin') and back on line.
We tested sending previously frozen pollen shipments during the season.
And, if we could push the envelop a bit. We would be gettin' enough pollen in year 2 that could be spread about from the year one crosses. I of course understand this would fail to address the consistency issues. That one of the questions the SAGE project hopes to answer. Still I would enjoy seeing what the year two "Winner" seedlings looked like.
We need to keep this fun beyond knowledge acquisition.
And, if a person was lucky enough to have his/her seedling selected that participant would be wearing a very tall feather in their cap, maybe even destined for immortality in the iris world ... might even find a seat between to Dykes and Austin ... if they happen to be in the same place.
I'm pretty sure that Shadlow girl would change here hair color to match the feather.
Smiles to all yawl!
