[SpaceAgeRobin] Report: bloom in z 7

Even though I'm not quite in z 6 I'm just at the hinge edge between 6-7, and just got reclassified as 7 last year if I read the map rightly.

The only one I can report with any confidence is

FLUTE ENCHANTEE, and under mediocre conditions of near starvation and root competition from a Crepe Myrtle this year, fairly long horns on first two blooms year one, not consistent there after;
year two with competition, horns anyway on first bloom, none thereafter; 2+

DEVONSHIRE CREAM, same near-starvation conditons--small horns on two out of three falls, first blooms on two stalks, not observed thereafter; prior year in different soil, lower pH, no SA indications. 2 (no plus)

Crosses between the two attempted--no takes; tried selfing DC--no takes.

IN A HEARTBEAT flounces on first blooms, later bloom ruined by weather; crosses didn't take

Total crosses attempted despite rain--68.  Pods harvested -- FIVE.  Three others rotted on the stalks halfway to maturity, one rotted after harvest.  Not an iris year here, nor was the prior.

Neil Mogensen in z typically 7-difficult, western NC mountains (but aren't all zones 7 difficult?)
