Chris,

well and is way too consistant with regards to appendage reliability >to
ignore. It's a favorite of mine but not of others I know who've seen
it. I guess I'm like my 7 year old son, >who tries to wear the same old
dirty green socks day after day ;-) There's some strange attraction there

What do the others think of THORNBIRD? I like
it pretty well. In any case, with what can be seen, it looks like it would
be fun to work with. Seems like you could use it for stripes, like CIRCUS
CIRCUS or with the BENGAL TIGER pattern and see what happened. Or maybe
even with a blue-bearded yellow like BLUE EYED SUSAN and maybe end up with a
violet horn and beard on yellow. Personally, anything that produces
consistent appendages reliably should have value. That seedling of
mine you posted was the only SA to show them here this spring with the awful
weather. The other SAs that bothered to bloom had zero appendages, but the
seedling had them on every bloom. That's the main reason it's still
around, but it's also a prolific producer of blooms which helps.
