Re: S.A.G.E.

How about Schreiner reds? There is always talk of the Schreiner blue line,
but it seems to me they've also put out a lot of reds. DYNAMITE has been
mentioned, but doesn't seem to grow well enough for a lot of us. Four years
here and I only have a single fan left, never bloomed. But Lauries post of
WARRIOR KING made me think. The list seems pretty long - SPARTAN, POST
TIME, WAR SAILS, WAR CHIEF, GALLANT MOMENT. Checking their ancestry turns
up more from Schreiner. Of the above, GALLANT MOMENT has performed the
best, but SPARTAN still has the best red color here. There might be some
newer ones that I'm unfamiliar with but may be fairly widely distributed.
Do you have any, Michael?

Also, I know on the other list the remark has been made that using Schreiner
intros as parents yields lots of inferior seedlings. I've heard that
before, but at least one blue - BREAKERS - seems to have been a good parent.
It's been used a lot and seemingly has the ability to move forward with the
results rather than remain static or go backward. At least my group of
seedlings using it as a pod parent yielded plants that looked like YAQUINA
BLUE in form. They were uniformly more modern than BREAKERS itself and all
were/are strong growers with good branching.

How many good red SAs are there? What SAs on the list might work?
