Re: Re: [iris-photos] TB: my 2nd SA seedling

Here's another pic, shows the width of the horn, and how the horn is
connected to the falls for I think the same 1/2" after the beards. I think
it's a neat division of color between the purple on the falls with the
mottled nearly white base of the horn. Second flower opened up today,
not a surprise it's not a full flower, it was only half as big as the first
one. 2 falls 1 standard, consistant horns. I'm just happy the first flower
was fully formed. Looks like these 1 and 1/3 flowers are it for this year.
I've jumped on the opportunity to spread what looks to be fertile polllen.
This one really got around after I took the pics yesterday :). It got
crossed to: City lights, garden grace, immortality, before the storm,
double scoop, blatant, Queen in Calico, Intygreyshun(IB), grape
adventure, and last but not least honey scoop. I marked them all, and
will be keeping a close eye on them. I have one anther left, so it will liely
be put on: snow spoon?, speed limit, Hook em horns, and firebeard. If
it makes it that far. They all started blooming today. More seedlings
opening today, but no SA's. Think I did see some BSE's though. One
seedling is a nice veined steely blue white with lot's of ruffles and lace
but kinda (for lack of a better word) orb-like form. I'll try and get pics of
it(probably post it at iris photo's. Sure am glad I'm off work today, I
would have had to call in sick:). oh, yeah and Chris, no PBF. Ominous
Stranger sure does though, goes all the way to the top bud, i'll get a pic
of that too. Cya Will Warner

Will,

My THORNBIRD question has to do with the flat attachment of the horns and
the shoulder color in the photo.  These are photos of a TBIRD seedling with
an unknown pollen parent.  The long, skinny spoons were flat and attached to
the surface of the falls for about 1/2 inch.  Yours appears to have more
ruffling and more red than this one.  All I know about the pollen parent is
that it would be a non-SA, modern form TB.
