Michael, Very interesting observations on Thornbirds color fading. I've noticed that and how it looks different each year. Finally this spring when we had overly cool temps I could see the greenish (ecru) coloring. Later flowers, when it had warmed up, looked like it usually does here. It's interesting how the color differs on the mesmerizer/thornbird seedling. I wonder where the pink comes from?Don't know Will, My observation would be that it is white because of dominate color inhibitor genes. Those genes seem to be pretty weak though. Crossed with BC COLOR BRITE seedlings were pink, purple, bicolor purple plicata and 2 BC seedlings with horns. Crossed with STING RAY everything was another dang purple. Randy has posted a couple of seedlings 1 red and 1 white with a purple flounce I believe. Stems are on the lazy side though. Considering how tall MIDNIGHT THUNDER grew last fall I better freeze some pollen for next year. Michael M. Yahoo! Groups Links
