Re: [SpaceAgeRobin] Winner of the 1rst price at Franciris 2005

Jerome, very nice pics! This season i've had quite a few large clumps blooming with at least 18+stalks, and a number of them were my newer SA's that are in their second or third year now. Very quick increases. The plantation looked like a giant maze carpet of one color into another. But, because of all the late and heavy rains we had here in NorCal, the view was very short lived. Ah well, have to wait til next year now. Also as the rain ruined my crossings too, i only got 11 pods this time. Usually i have 40 to 50. I know the bees did a few over in the So. 40, just hope they are good ones. I've gotten some real cuties from the bees in the past. Mostly from Unicorn or Horned Amythest tho.
Also to rant on about beard style, i'm still in the minority (i think) that likes those huge very thick catapiller like horns!!!!!!! Gotta love em!!!!!! Most of the new ones these past few years have had some great thick tongues of about a third of them had red tipped or red horns.

As i said b4, nice pics and congrats on the awards,,,,,,,,,,

Jerome,

Thanks for the amazing photos.  I was equally amazed as Bill was at the sight of the clump of Bye Bye Blues.  I once had a clump of Ramseses send up 21 stalks but I've yet to see anything like that since. Bob Stetson's clump looked pretty impressive as well.  Does he speak any French ?

How's your season this year ?  Did you enter any Irises this year ?  It looks like SA's may have more of a future over in Europe where growers seem to  have less of a "stiff upper lip" towards them.  Many are just plain violently offended by them.  These are the ones I personally like to tease once in a while.
