[SpaceAgeRobin] I Wanted to Introduce Myself

Hi Everyone, 

I wanted to introduce myself to the group.

I am a 39 married Mom of 4.  I am an artist and graphic artist.  I 
have an antique store and I refinish furniture in shabby chic style.  
I love romantic home and garden settings.  I love to garden but want 
to learn more before starting anything serious.  I tried doing 
orchids in California but I did not have the right environment.  It 
is so hot and there is not much humidity there so it would be fun to 
try them here in VA.  I could keep the stems alive but it was hard to 
get them to blossom.  I had to mist and mist and mist and keep soil 
so moist and if I didn't keep misting the blooms would shrivel.

Honestly I don't know a thing about irises but I want to learn.  I 
am  interested in your pictures of the gorgeous flowers and garden 
formations.  I would love to learn more about how to do it.  

I have recently bought a home with my husband in Virginia Beach, VA 
and most anything grows here but it does get pretty frosty in the 
winter so I want to get involved in finding the right plants for my 
home.  I have always adored going to gardening shows but I honestly 
haven't done anything more advanced than roses, some miscellaneous 
bulbs, and seeds for gardening stuff.  

I have four kids so currently my time is short but as I grow older 
and retire I look forward to having a lavish and plentiful garden 
worth spending time in.  I am still planning the basics of our yard 
so I want to get involved in learning more about some special species.

If anything I was wondering if I could snag some of your pictures and 
just use them for artwork.  But I love to read about gardening 
certain types of iris, orchids and other bulbs.  I would love to hear 
lots about it.  I may not have much to say at first but I will 
definately be listening.
