[SpaceAgeRobin] Re: Neil Mogensen

Neil contacted me several months ago and essentially bowed out of
any further SAGE activities due to the fact that he wouldn't
physically be able to get out into the garden anymore. Naturally, I
took that as a terrible sign because of the unequaled enthusiasm
he's shown over the last two years at the SA Robin and longer on at
Iris Talk. I knew things were bad and wished him all the comfort
possible but never heard from him again.

Hearing this news is so sad because I know that we'll never hear
from him again on any of the Iris lists but I have to think of it
this way though, Neil is no longer trapped in a body that has been
causing him anguish for many years now, he's free and we should be
relieved and happy that he won't have to suffer any longer.

I believe his passion for hybridizing motivated him to live to see
the seedlings bloom. I have nothing but admiration for the way he
dealt with his condition and continued to motivate and enlighten us
at the same time.

I hope somebody will make an effort to identify and make sure his
introductions like POWER WOMAN don't get neglected. Maybe sales of
his introductions or seedlings could be donated to the Cancer
Society.

Thanks for everything Neil, you will be missed.

Chris
