Style Spray

For several years now I have been watching closely inside iris blooms for petals down in the styles. Having spoted them in seedlings I then read somewhere that some of Keith Keppels plicatas had these little apendages. I have sence found them in other irises such as Coming Up Roses, Designing Woman, in my introduction Comfort Zone, etc . My best SA so far that has them is Navajo Code that will come out in 2006. In the cultivars just mention they appear one each between the style arms. I other iris they come in pairs or multiples. The attached photos of the cultivar I have nicknamed Style Spray show six total style petals. The size of the petals have been increased by doing a self cross of one of my plicata seedlings that exibited the style petals. Style Spray  (P5-10Avhss (Ominous Stranger X Chiffon Ruffles)).    see attachments
