Re: tomato plant support


I also use cages made of fencing wire and have in the past used steel poles
, one on each side, to keep the plants from toppling over.  This year I am
going to try something I read in a gardening magazine (which one I don't
remember).  This person uses wire cages and uses a 16' length  of treated
2x2  lumber run through the top opening of each cage and supported by a few
steel fence posts.  The board is fastened to the posts with wire.  It looks
like it might work very well.  And yes, the wire can be very sharp where the
edges are joined!
