Where I garden in zone 8, Portland, Oregon, morning glories and bindweed are
a real problem. It doesn't usually freeze hard enough to kill them.
Mulch seems to encourage them.
After tilling and hoeing them for about 3 or 4 years they seem to get
somewhat under control.
I never did try the solarization technique of laying down clear plastic in
July and August, 'cause I need the room.
