It sounds like a cross or mixed seeds. Last year I had purple spotted
large leaf basil mixed with the purple ruffle seed. Looked great in
salads tasted fine. I also have poor or slow germination with purple
ruffle. I tried a heating pad under the flat this year with better
success. Basil likes it warm like their counterpart tomatoes.
