Yellow squash (new)

While we are on the subject of yeller squarsh...!
    At least a couple of my plants seem to have slowed production way down, 
and the leaves are yellowing badly. I have kept up the same watering, and 
feeding routines. The weather has not been that unusual as of late, however 
July was cool and damp. I seem to remember the same thing happening last 
year. Is this a normal process for squash, producing in abundance for 2-3 
months, then dropping off, or should I be looking in another direction for 
answers and solutions?
