pickling cucumbers

hello there,
i'm growing pickling cucumbers for the first time and i've realized that i 
don't know what they should look like when they are ready to be pickled.  
some of them are sort of an orange color right now and a couple of the 
smaller ones are more green with a bit of yellow....looking like your average 
cucumber, but i'm not sure if any of them are ready.
any advice would be greatly appreciated, not to mention any suggestions on 
how to turn them into pickles when they are ready!
