Not really knowing what your space is like (shade/sun, zone/microclimate,
etc.) I'm just offering the idea of espailiers fruit trees using semi dwarf
or dwarf varieties. Also hops or large hipped roses can be trained
up/across. In the Spring you can eat the tender hop shoots and in the late
Autumn have rose hips to collect. With narrow spaces, you can think up and
across but also pairing with other plants, you might be able to also have a
productive understory with care.

do fruits grow on vines?

i have a narrow strip of abt 2 ft X 50 ft along the fence and want to know
what wud be the best thing to grow there which cud use the fence support to
crawl on to if needed.
