I am also gardening in the MidAtlantic area. My jalapeņos do eventually
turn red, but it happens quite late, and around here they are usually
sold green. As S&RWilliams suggests, use them green. If you like the
color contrast, try growing cayenne or red cherry peppers. They do
quite well here (better than my jalapeņos) and turn red relatively
early.
