Hello ladies, what have I started, another chat circle?
 I don't know
what you could call my zone, how about deepest UK. Actually we have a
sunny hillside on the welsh borders. Yes we do have corn and it won't be
long. The outdoor tomatoes are ripening.so far the birds have had them
because we haven't finished the nets. We are ripening the cherry
tomatoes indoor., picked 18 small punnets for market yesterday. Connie,
did you look at the time on my original, about 4AM here, I am often up
checking e-mail then.
We have been coping with cucumber problems. half our plants went off, it
turned out to be cucumber mosaic virus, spread by aphids from presumably
the aubergines which co-habit. I did a lot of research on the net. It
seems that to control the aphids you encourage lacewings and hoverflies.
You make winter homes for the adult lacewings out of lemonade bottles,
bottoms off, fill with corrugated cardboard rolls and hang up.
Also grow open type flowers (like daisies) for the nectar, best colours
white & yellow. As it is the larvae that do the work I have to get busy
with flowerbeds next to the polytunnels.
Lots to learn, lots to do.
'Bye for now
P.S. anothet very hot day here, how are you faring?
