I'm in sunny southern california, just outside of Santa Barbara in the avocado belt --zone 23 as sunset calls it. 'The Acts of God Themepark' as a local weather man called it referring to fires, earthquakes, floods and mudslides. The weather is fairly moderated by proximity to the ocean with temperatures neither too hot, nor too cold -- as goldilocks called it, just right. It is what is called a mediterranean climate with cool moist winters, and warm dry summers. I can and do garden year-round, tho I cant grow well certain heat-loving things such as the larger melons, nor winter chill dependant things such as apricots and plums etc. Janet.
